John R. Lucy, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist

John R. Lucy, Ph.D.I have a strong interest in helping individuals and couples experiencing life transition and/or turmoil find vision, connection and greater meaning for their lives. Life transitions can range from the dark and difficult times to the excitement of new opportunities. As a licensed clinical psychologist with a background in theological study, I enjoy connecting the personal ways individuals make sense of their lives with  the current and evolving knowledge base of the psychology and neuroscience fields. I help my clients identify the self-reinforcing patterns that prevent them from moving forward and assist them with the challenging process of creating change in their lives.

Please explore this website to find out about the counseling/psychotherapy, education and career planning and consultation services I offer. My educational and career planning services can be provided in person or long distance via internet and over the phone. I hope this website will provide you with the information you need if not please feel free to contact me by phone or email for further information.

I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and a master's degree in theology and have been licensed as a psychologist since 1995. I formed a private practice after a 13-year career working in higher education directing college counseling centers at Oxford College of Emory University and Agnes Scott College and working as an associate dean of students at Agnes Scott. I have also taught and supervised undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to my work in higher education, I worked in medical centers providing both outpatient and inpatient care and consultation services.

Feel free to follow this link to request an appointment or you may contact me by phone or email with your questions so that we can determine whether I would be a good fit for your counseling needs. If I am not, I will do my best to provide you with assistance in finding other options. All consultations are strictly confidential.

For those clients who do not have insurance, who are using out-of-network benefits, or who choose not to use their coverage, my fee is $125 per session. Individuals may choose to pay by check, cash or credit card or they may use their health insurance.

I am a network provider for Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Maksin Group (insurance for Georgia colleges/universities), MHNet, Multiplan, PHCS, and Tricare/Value Options. I will bill these companies directly, though you will be responsible for your deductible, copay, or coinsurance (insurance information). If you are using out-of-network benefits, payment will be due at the time of service and I will provide you with a receipt that you can use to get reimbursed for some or all of your out-of-pocket expenses.
